
Kim Newth is a freelance writer, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury.
Her experience in journalism - particularly print - is extensive and includes daily newspapers (Timaru Herald), bi-weeklies (Christchurch Mail, the Star) and weekly publications (Sunday News , Sunday Star Times, North Canterbury News).
In the late 1990s, she worked as a television producer for Holmes, based in TVNZ's Christchurch office.
She has consistently produced work of high quality across a wide range of topics, from major crime stories to personal profiles and local body politics.
As a graduate of the University of Canterbury Journalism Diploma, she was awarded the Robert Bell Scholarship for most promising student. She has been a finalist in the Qantas Media Awards and won the Star's Editorial Award in 2006.
Recently, she set up her own media business - North Canterbury Media - and is also a regular contributor to the Rangiora-based lifestyle magazine Essence.
